Eco-Bos Eco Town

St Austell, Cornwall

The Project
Chapman Workhouse are working with a wider panel architects for Eco-Bos consortium in St Austell, Cornwall, creating housing designs for a proposed Eco-town on a site of disused clay works next to the Eden Project.

The initial appointment is to develop the design of a 4 bedroom detached house to level 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.  The design will form part of the pilot phase of the development to showcase the sustainable principles and objectives of the scheme at large.
The scheme will eventually consist of approximately 5000 homes along with social and business facilities.  The development will be carbon neutral in net terms.  Wherever possible locally sourced materials, services and skills will be used to support Cornish industries and local jobs.
